About the APMA
The American Pregnancy Massage Association (APMA) is a professional organization promoting the benefits of Pregnancy Massage. At the core of our mission is the desire to help women feel good during pregnancy. We believe pregnancy massage is a valuable component of prenatal care when done by a trained massage therapist. Therefore, the APMA provides public and professional education, sets professional standards for members, and promotes research in the field of Prenatal Massage.
APMA Members
How do you know if a massage therapist is trained for pregnancy massage? If you see the APMA logo on your therapist’s web site or brochure, you will know they are certified in pregnancy massage.
All AMPA members have shown that they are in good standing with the licensing board of their region, have passed a National Certification Examination, have continued their learning by completing at a minimum an 18-hour Prenatal Massage Program (many have far exceeded this training), and have agreed to follow the APMA Code of Ethics.
We have two types of members:
- Massage Professionals who have met the APMA’s standards of Professional licensure and certification for providing Pregnancy Massage.
- Course Providers who have demonstrated that their Pregnancy Massage Certification Course meets the AMPA’s standards.
